How we read a signal

Behavioural Intelligence isn’t intuition dressed up. It’s a disciplined way of noticing: five layers that move from plain observation to trained response, with the observer’s own bias checked along the way. We publish it in full, because a method you can inspect is a method you can trust.

The five layers

Observe → Notice → Contextualise → Interpret → Respond

  1. 01

    Observe

    Watch what actually happens.

Before interpreting anything, we record the moment as it is: the pause before a reply, who a guest looks to, where warmth arrives late. Plain observation, held apart from judgement.

  2. 02

    Notice Your Own Filter

Name the lens before using it.

Every observer carries assumptions: culture, mood, expectation. We make ours explicit, because a signal seen through an unexamined filter is just a bias with better manners.

  3. 03

    Contextualise

Place the signal in its world.

The same gesture means different things at check-in, mid-service and recovery. We read each signal against its setting, the guest’s journey, and the pressure the team is under.

  4. 04

    Interpret Carefully

Hold it as a clue, not a verdict.

We weigh what a signal might mean, look for what would confirm or contradict it, and stay willing to be wrong. Confidence is earned across many moments, never claimed from one.

  5. 05

    Respond Professionally

    Turn the reading into practice.

A finding only matters if it changes a behaviour. We translate each signal into something a team can practise, and revisit it, because reading people well is a discipline, not a gift.

Our stance

A signal is not proof. It is a clue.

The guardrails that keep the reading honest

A signal is not proof. It is a clue.

We never present a single observation as fact. Signals point us toward a question worth examining, not a conclusion to act on blindly.

We read patterns, not people.

The work is about moments and behaviours that can be trained, never fixed judgements about an individual’s character or worth.

Consent and confidentiality come first.

Observations are gathered and shared with care, anonymised before they inform wider work, and handled so no one is exposed by being seen.

Our method is open on purpose.

When there are no logos to lean on, transparency is the credential. If you can see exactly how we read a signal, you can judge the work on its merits.
